Post Retirement

Just had a passing thought. What I will do after retirement. Then can up with some projects. Planning to post each one here.

To start with how about starting "Geriatric Condominium"? (just me named it ) (Code Name: Project GC) :-)

To provide Independent furnished and utilitarian rooms. (space for study, small kitchen, bed (may be king size :-) ) and of course attached rest room. To add on with internal and external communications systems (in house phone, external line), Wi -Fi connection and other gizmos.

Common dinning area (Food will be taken care by the company (if we can call that), Bar (this will become common by the time we retire), area for indoor sports.

Residents to have provision of consultation and handling for Medical, Legal, Banking, Financial and Investments, Travel and Counsellings. Each resident is free to have his life style per his financial capabilities.

Rational behind this idea:

1) Security for senior citizens (mainly for those whose wards stay offshore)
2) Medical and other resources help
3) If senior citizens spends some time with their children overseas and comes back to India. (Basically for those who spend some part of the year overseas and some part of the year here)
4) To give avenue for spending stress free and good quality life

Costing:
Not worked in details, but think I can leave that to Mouly.

Good thought. I guess the facility indicated would be required even for a normal apartment living? dont you think? You are talking about a corporatised Apartment management service (customised for senior citizens) as in vogue in some of developed countries. Even the regular apartment/living place is managed like this in the US/Swiss/singapore. I like the idea. Here apartments / condos are managed like Star hotels - with end to end service, full leasing management office, full time staff , browsing, entertainment center, pools, games, spa, library etc..etc - complete solutions. Some apartments even have a breakfast lounge / cafeteria !!..And you may not even know the final owner of the property!!....

As regards cost, real estate would be the key ingredient but its a sound business proposition and wonderful business opportunity. In India we need to have such organised services and get out of the associations managing the operations. Probably bigger apartment complexes (like rain tree) are going this way;
